Jewelry, Florence is one of the best places in the world to learn, with its long history of jewelry making from Renaissance, and its traditional techniques such as Florentine open work or Incisione (engraving).
Our course is composed mainly by 3 different techniques:
- Open Work
- Stone Setting
- “Incisione” (engraving)
Open Work is performed throughout the whole academic year. It uses piercing techniques to produce decorative motifs by cutting away metal on a flat area or band to allow the passage of light.
Stone Setting is the at of securely setting or attaching gemstones into jewelry.
Incisione is the Florentine-style engraving Further techniques learnt during the academic year are: soldering, forging, embossing, metal molding, finishing, patina techniques, tool making, titanium or aluminum anodic treatments, photo-etching, metallic insertions, silver plating, etc.
