Our 12-week networking course gives you the skills to complete the Cisco CCNA qualification and further your networking career. You'll study by distance learning and have the option to progress onto our MSc Network Security.

Our course consists of a single 12-week module designed to boost your knowledge and skills in network development. It’ll cover the areas that you’ll need to take the Cisco CCNA exam and gain a globally recognised Certified Network Associate qualification.

You’ll cover the basics of network routing, switching and advanced technologies and gain skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration and practical application. Study by distance learning using our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and our remote physical lab (NETLAB).

With access to a wide range of hardware, software and Cisco systems in our computer labs, you’ll develop a thorough understanding of how network technologies work in practice and an awareness of current and future trends in the industry.

By passing our course successfully you’ll have the option to progress onto our MSc Network Security course taught on our Chelmsford campus.

Core modules
  • Network PrinciplesYou'll discover comprehensive networking concepts, from network applications to the protocols and services provided to those applications by the lower layers of the network. You'll progress from basic networking concepts to more complex enterprise and theoretical networking models later in the module. You'll cover the basics of network routing, switching and advanced technologies. We emphasize critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, and the practical application of skills.You'll be given access to Packet Tracer, a flexible network simulator and to our remote networking laboratory (NETLAB)allowing you to undertake laboratory exercises in a flexible manner to suit your individual needs.
Assessment

We’ll assess your progress through a combination of practical demonstrations and reports.
